Its core is the commitment and implementation of the Beyond Zero (BZ) vision, aiming to create incident-free workplaces, improve people’s wellbeing and enhance the environment.
What is Beyond Zero
Our Beyond Zero culture is adopted into everything we do, at BAM Ritchies we have chosen to take on a cultural challenge to help us perform better, help our people think more creatively and achieve business challenges.

Beyond Zero for Customers
Most of our customers have their own H & S processes, programmes and campaigns.
The BAM Ritchies Beyond Zero will fit into and around the customers’ requirements and add to the initiatives in place.
Beyond Zero for Suppliers and Sub-Contractors
Any supplier working for BAM Ritchies is required to fully involve themselves in the BAM Ritchies Beyond Zero and contribute to its aims. Where appropriate the employees of the supplier or sub-contractor will be able to partake of the workshops and activities of Beyond Zero.
Beyond Zero History
Several years ago BAM Ritchies found that regulation, procedures, instruction and training were not enough to maintain the continual levels of incident reduction seen since the Health and Safety at Work Act was introduced in 1970. It was realised that behaviours of all individuals in the organisation needed to improve not only to eliminate incidents but also to improve the quality of life for themselves and all other stakeholders.
Initially the Beyond Zero concentrated upon the H & S aspects but soon it was realised that changing behaviours could also lead to significant ongoing improvements the aspects of Environmental and Quality performance.
The campaign continues to develop and it is clearly changing lives for the better.
