Case Study: A500 Talke Interchange

This project, located on the A500 Ring Road near Stoke on Trent at the Talke Interchange, was part of the Area 11 MAC Contract. The project involved the concrete repair of bridge piers during night time carriageway closures.

The works comprised patch repairs to the reinforced concrete piers situated within the central reservation of the A500 dual carriageway.

Services provided included:

  • the removal of concrete by Hydrodemolition
  • placement of sacrificial cathodic protection anodes
  • reinstatement of the prepared areas by application of sprayed concrete.

The sprayed concrete materials were tested to determine strength gain in accordance with the specification.
